An all-natural, homemade alternative to commercial pre-workout powders to help pump up your performance without caffeine. May improve blood flow due to high nitrate content and decrease blood pressure.

Caution, consider wearing gloves! Beet pigments will stain skin and fabrics.

Sweet Beets Pre-Workout

Ingredients:

  • 2 Cups fresh beets* (raw will be more potent than cooked) washed/scrubbed, peeled, then chopped 

    1 inch ginger, peeled and chopped or microplane (adjust amount per spice tolerance)

    Juice of 1 half lemon (for taste -and- to preserve the nitrate content)

    2 Cups of cold water, ice optional

Instructions:

Optional: Top with 1 dash of cinnamon, if you like it sweet, try adding 1 half apple

Drink 1-3 hours before training. 

*Always check with your healthcare team before making any changes in your diet and exercise routine. While beets are generally safe, they do contain oxalates that may not be right for everyone, including, but not limited to, those prone to kidney stones.
